The art of Karate was developed in various parts of Okinawa. The style which was developed in Shuri came to be called as Shorin Ryu. The Shorin ryu style emphasizes on speed, breathing , co-ordination and internal peace. Shorin Ryu Matsubayshi style was founded by O’Sensei Shoshin Nagamine.

       Hanshi Katsuo Shiroma trained in Karate under of O’Sensei Shoshin Nagamine. After his demise he developed a dojo under the name ‘Bukenkan’. The word ‘Bukenkan’ translates to ‘Art focus school’.The Bukenkan Dojo in India is headed by Hanshi S.Rajamani who has practiced Shorin Ryu Karate from 1975.
